Wind in the Willows favourites Ratty, Mole and Mr Toad head north for an outdoor adventure in Durham

The much-loved Ratty and Mole from children's classic Wind in the Willows will be brought to colourful life in an outdoor adventure coming to Durham.

And Mr Toad will be there too as he swaps Toad Hall for Crook Hall when he pays a visit to the visitor attraction in September.

The characters from the famous Kenneth Grahame novel will be taking over Crook Hall & Gardens in Durham with a promenade performance through the grounds where they will enlist the help of the audience to save the troublesome Mr Toad from further mishap.

The production by Attic Door, creators of immersive theatrical experiences, invites families to join an hour-long adventure in the Crook Hall gardens and it is promising plenty singing, dancing and join-in fun during the show which is inspired by Grahame's enchanting original tale whose adventure also see pals Ratty and Mole seek out Badger in his Wild Wodd home.

Tom Fisher, from the company, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing The Wind in the Willows to Crook Hall.

"The gardens are absolutely magnificent - audiences will feel as though they’re by the sleepy riverside or in the spooky Wild Wood - it’ll be brilliant!”

The performance will take place from 5.30pm until 6.30pm on September 8  and tickets are on sale now.

They cost £10; £8 for under-16s and concessions, and a family ticket for two adults and two children is available for £30.
