Sunderland turned in their worst display of the season as they were thrashed 4-0 at Portsmouth.
The Black Cats imploded in the first half and were trailing 3-0 at the interval, with Marcus Harness, Lee Brown, and John Marquis on target for the hosts at Fratton Park.
Marquis added his second and Pompey's fourth in the second period to round off a sobering day for Lee Johnson and his side, who were knocked off top spot in League One by Wigan Athletic.
The game was played in appalling conditions on the South Coast, with heavy rain rendering the pitch unplayable in all four corners.
But that cannot excuse this performance.
Here's how James Hunter rated the Sunderland players.
Thorben Hoffmann 5
Made a couple of saves but might have done better with a couple of the goals, too
Carl Winchester 4
Has been excellent at right-back, but Portsmouth exposed him time and time again
Tom Flanagan 4
Given the run-around as Portsmouth exploited the space down Sunderland's right
Bailey Wright 5
Part of a very shaky back line
Dennis Cirkin 5
Struggled on his return, largely due to the huge puddles on the pitch
Corry Evans 5
The experienced head in midfield, he couldn't get a grip on the game
Luke O'Nien 4
Gave the ball away cheaply, particularly for the second goal, and ended up chasing shadows
Aiden O'Brien 5
A willing runner, but Sunderland's forays into the final third were few and far between
Elliot Embleton 4
Made no impression on the game whatsoever and was taken off at half-time
Leon Dajaku 5
His first league start, and it was a day he will want to forget
Ross Stewart 5
Had a thankless task playing up front on a day when Sunderland spent most of their time defending
Subs
Callum Doyle 6
For Embleton 46mins. Did OK
Alex Pritchard 5
For Dajaku 68mins. Couldn't lift Sunderland in the final 20 minutes

For Evans 74mins. Added little
