A couple have celebrated a “perfect” wedding after winning a Bristol Post competition offering the chance to tie the knot in style.
Martyn Phelps and Jess Osborne exchanged vows at Eastwood Park Country House in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, on Friday (September 27).
“It was just a perfect day,” Martyn, 30, told Bristol Live.
“The venue was fantastic and I think everybody had a good time - a few sore heads this morning.”
The Kingswood residents emerged triumphant in a competition run by the Bristol Post earlier this year in partnership with Eastwood Park and a range of wedding suppliers.
By collecting tokens published in the newspaper over a series of weeks, they amassed more ‘points’ than any other couple - and their dedication appears to have paid off.
Reflecting on the memorable day, 27-year-old Jess said: “It was just a dream come true. The weather held out for us - we did get a little bit wet - but everyone had such a good time.
“It was just perfect - we couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
Jess, a trainer at contracting firm Capita, described the venue as “gorgeous”, noting the ceremony room’s impressive large windows and beautiful fireplace.
Eastwood Park’s website brands the Victorian house estate “stunning”. It cites its “very rich” history and 200-plus acres of “tranquil countryside”.
Around 60 guests attended the day-time ceremony, with a dozen or so more friends and family invited to the celebrations in the evening.
The newlywed Mr and Mrs Phelps, originally from Yeovil, are flying east for their honeymoon as they look forward to three days in Singapore followed by 10 days in Bali, Indonesia.
