Atmospheric, dramatic and bursting with the vibrant shades of the season, autumn in southern Sweden is just as thrilling as The Bridge, the addictive series filmed there. If you’re a fan of Nordic noir, Swedish culture and stunning Scandi-scenery, this chance to win a three-night break for two in Malmö – courtesy of Sunvil Holidays – is for you.

Whether you’re snuggling up in a cosy cafe with a traditional cinnamon bun, shopping on the city’s pretty cobbled streets, or exploring Skåne’s sweeping coastline, autumn is a fantastic time to visit – and Malmö will be a great base for the lucky winner plus one.

While you’re in town, you could take a guided boat tour on the city’s canals before strolling to one of the many restaurants in Lilla Torg, a picturesque square bursting with eateries – or, for a sweet Swedish classic, head to Malmö’s famous patisserie, Hollandia.

In the evening, food fans can try Titti Qvarnström’s Michelin-starred Bloom in the Park where, in lieu of menus, locally sourced food is served according to availability, day and mood. Lyran has a homely approach, with a focus on local and organic fusion dishes, and Bord 13 is dedicated to simple, natural food and wine, with “nothing added and nothing taken away”.

Shopping opportunities are abundant in the city. Search for Swedish handicrafts in Gamla Väster, the city’s colourful old town, or browse the vintage boutiques at Davidshallstorg. For a more modern shopping experience, Malmö has everything from slick Scandinavian furniture and interior design stores, such as Olsson & Gerthel and AB Småland, to Uma Bazaar, an organic fashion emporium.

Fans of The Bridge will be in their element as they can visit a host of filming locations in Malmö. On a guided Bridge tour, you can eat in the restaurants favoured by Saga Norén and visit the police station where she works. There’s a Bridge exhibition to visit at the Malmö Museum, or you can download a mini guide to the series and its locations if you’d rather tour the locations at your own pace.

The prize also includes train tickets to the 11th-century town of Ystad, where you can follow in the footsteps of Henning Mankell’s fictional detective Kurt Wallander. Alongside half-timbered houses and charming squares, the Cineteket film museum has a unique collection of Wallander props, from the Swedish and English productions, as well as interactive experiences.

The trip includes three nights for two people, bed and breakfast, at the Mäster Johan hotel. Upscale and modern, with free Wi-Fi, the hotel is just 50 metres from Lilla Torg Square in the centre of Malmö.

The winner will receive return flights to Copenhagen Kastrup airport from London, return train tickets from Copenhagen airport to Malmö and 2 Skånetrafiken tickets for unlimited travel around the Skåne region (including Ystad), valid for 72-hours.
