This year marks 50 years since Vivien Leigh was on an English stage, or in a film. But the actress, forever remembered as Scarlett O’Hara, continues to fascinate. Letter to Larry brings the very essence of the celebrated actress to Jermyn Street Theatre in August, following its critically acclaimed Paris premiere in 2013.
Donald Macdonald’s play is an insightful exploration of the life and love of one of the 20th century’s most glamorous yet vulnerable icons of stage and screen. When Laurence Olivier asks her for a divorce, Vivien’s response creates a worldwide sensation, and although she says she will ‘naturally do whatever he wishes”, she is determined to win him back. When a new revelation takes her to the edge, she fights for his love - and her life. But is it too late? The truth is revealed.
Starring Susie Lindeman as Vivien Leigh, this season marks a new collaboration with stage director Cal McCrystal, and video artist, Mic Gruchy.
We’re giving away five pairs of tickets to Vivien: Letter to Larry. Our competition closes on 20 July.
