The three most useful tools a Nature Detective can take to the woods are a sense of adventure, imagination, and an inquisitive mind. But when you’re setting off on a wildlife hunt, a few handy gadgets can give you a helping hand. To get 10 lucky explorers started, the Woodland Trust is giving away 10 Nature Detective kits. Inside each kit, you’ll find:

Two pairs of binoculars
Spy on red squirrels, peer at distant deer and watch woodpeckers at work. Don’t forget your Nature Detectives spotters’ sheets for identification, but remember to speak softly so you don’t scare your subjects away.

Head torch
Perfect for peering into tree hollows and bird holes. Take it to light the way on an evening bat walk or to search for animal tracks on a midnight ramble.

Bug Safari kit
All you need to hunt, catch and examine mini-beasts. Keep the field lens round your neck so it’s there when you spot a beetle, ant or spider. For closer examination, use the bug tongs or tweezers to capture and contain it in the magnifying pot.

To be in with a chance of winning one of these hands-on educational kits, suitable for five years and over, simply enter your details below.
