Holiday specialists On The Beach will give five lucky couples the chance to win a trip to Turkey if they forego the traditional turkey Christmas dinner this year. The winners will get the chance to luxuriously holiday in the popular resort of Antalya on Turkey's southwest coast.
Bird Flu has purged over half of Britain's free range turkeys over the past year, with 1.3 million fowls bred for Christmas Day culled to 600,000 as a result of the epidemic. On The Beach wants to encourage alternative roasts because of the shortages.
Holiday-hopefuls can enter the competition by posting a photo of their turkey-less dinner on Christmas Day, tagging On The Beach with the hashtag #NoTurkeyGoTurkey. Pictures will ideally feature families around the table, and all the usual trimmings.
Winners will be chosen randomly in early January, and will travel to one of the five pre-selected four or five star resorts for their holiday in April for a week-long stay.
On The Beach chief customer officer Zoe Harris said: “With a turkey shortage this Christmas, we are asking people to go ‘cold turkey’ on the traditional festive favourite and come up with another dish.
“You might pick fish n chips, a curry, anything other than turkey! Then simply post your family Christmas dinner on Instagram with the hashtag and you could just win yourself a hot Turkey break instead.
“Besides, we all know at On the Beach that summer holidays are the most wonderful time of the year anyway!”
