Wimbledon champ to take on old rival at Gleneagles garden party

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash will play Greg Rusedski in an exhibition match using vintage racquets at Gleneagles ' Glorious Garden Party this summer.

The decadent party on 1 June aims to recreate the summers of the 1920s when afternoons at the hotel were spent enjoying champagne, sunshine and sport.

The tennis match will be the centrepiece of the day on the hotel's outdoor courts, umpired by Judy Murray.

Tickets cost £200 for the party which will begin with a champagne reception on the hotel terrace with a jazz band and canapes showcasing Scottish ingredients.

The Gleneagles Afternoon Tea will be served before the match, with executive pastry chef Phil Skinazi creating a centrepiece cake with seasonal Scottish berries.

Singer JP Cooper will perform and guests will be able to play croquet on the lawn or cool down with a gin and tonic ice pop.

Gleneagles to reopen its famous Strathearn restaurant with new look

Sharan Pasricha, founder and CEO of hospitality firm Ennismore , said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting our Glorious Garden Party once again this year.

"When Gleneagles first opened in the 1920s, it was the place for people to come and celebrate the great outdoors. We’re keeping this spirit alive by toasting the start of the summer season in the best way we know how.”
