Wimbledon 2025 LIVE: Novak Djokovic vs Miomir Kecmanovic result and reaction on Centre Court

Centre stage: Novak Djokovic was too good for compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic - (Getty Images)

Wimbledon 2025 - LIVE!

The case for Novak Djokovic ending this fortnight with a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon title is strengthening by the match. The 38-year-old rolled back the years with a vintage display in what was a Centre Court mauling of his Serbian compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic, as he raced to a 6-3 6-0 6-4 victory.

Djokovic hit 60 winners to go with 19 unforced errors. There was a run of 14 games won out of 15. He did not face a break point until serving for the match for the first time, when a brief stumble suddenly appeared, having led 5-1 in the third set.

That late drop in standards aside, this was a performance to send a message to the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Djokovic is the sixth seed but there are certainly not five players more likely to win these Championships than him. On current evidence, there might not be any.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 6-4 Kecmanovic

19:53 , Matt Verri

Ace down the T, Djokovic won’t want any further messing around.

I say he won’t want any further messing around, he’s just chucked in a double fault. 15-15.

Another double fault! What is going on? Djokovic’s level has fallen off a cliff these last few games.

Crowd starting to get involved again... but Djokovic calmly puts away the volley. 30-30.

Swinging ace out wide, match point. He converts it!

Strange final few games, but Djokovic does get over the line.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 *5-4 Kecmanovic

19:48 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic could have done with this little burst about 45 minutes ago.

Lovely drop shot, then puts away the volley with Djokovic out of position. 40-0.

Forehand winner and Kecmanovic has a swift hold to love. This... didn’t seem to be on the cards.

Djokovic will once again serve for the match.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 5-3* Kecmanovic

19:46 , Matt Verri

Djokovic steps up to serve for the match.

Kecmanovic has found something from somewhere - flat backhand and even Djokovic can’t get that back. 15-30.

And Djokovic then sends a volley just long. For the first time all match, he’s beak point down. Looks very frustrated with himself, wanted to keep that column clean.

Broken! Backhand is long and Kecmanovic has broken out of nowhere.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 *5-2 Kecmanovic

19:41 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic will want to be off this court as quickly as possible. Poor guy has been on the receiving end of an absolute mauling.

He gets to the latest drop shot, but Djokovic is already scurrying in pursuit of the response and gets there comfortably. 15-30.

Djokovic doesn’t get that right, though. Backhand pulled wide. 40-30 - Kecmanovic within touching distance of a rare game.

And he does hold! One final - probably - cheer for him.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 5-1* Kecmanovic

19:38 , Matt Verri

Could have a whole highlights package just on the drop shots we’ve seen. Another perfect one from Djokovic, 30-0.

Dear me. Kecmanovic moves up to the net and can just stand there as Djokovic lobs the volley perfectly over his head.

A hold to love. One game away.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 *4-1 Kecmanovic

19:33 , Matt Verri

Djokovic slightly too casual with that drop shot, clips the top of the net.

Was going to say it’s been a better game for Kecmanovic, but he’s still in his serving motion as Djokovic hammers a forehand winner down the line.

And another one, this time crosscourt, gets Djokovic to deuce.

Just a relentless succession of forehand winners. Break point now.

Djokovic can’t take it, finds the net as he went for another flat winner crosscourt. Back to deuce.

Oh, there we go again. Djokovic off balance but still swats a stunning shot right onto the line. Break point again.

He takes this one with a 51st winner!

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 3-1* Kecmanovic

19:28 , Matt Verri

Well then... couple of loose shots from Djokovic and it’s 0-30.

But he swiftly locks back in. Ace thundered down and then two lovely backhands, 40-30 and back in control.

Forehand into the net, deuce. As good a game as Kecmanovic has had on the Djokovic serve. Still looking for his first break point.

Not getting it here. Djokovic three games away from victory.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 *2-1 Kecmanovic

19:22 , Matt Verri

What’s this?

Kecmanovic in control of a game at 30-0?

That’s now 40-0, Djokovic a couple of inches away from making the backhand crosscourt but it’s just wide.

But Kecmanovic is having to go for the lines, with Djokovic getting everything back, and it brings two errors. They’ll go down as unforced, but I’d say the presence of Djokovic makes them fairly forced.

Deuce. That 40-0 bliss feels a while ago.

Especially now, break point Djokovic. Sums it up - double fault. Break.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 1-1* Kecmanovic

19:17 , Matt Verri

Another Djokovic drop shot, Kecmanovic decides it’s not worth the journey and gives up early.

Then a 13th ace of the match. And then a hold to love.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 *0-1 Kecmanovic

19:15 , Matt Verri

Well, we’ve picked up from where we left off.

Djokovic on the run, full stretch, and he’s somehow clipped the line with a ridiculous crosscourt forehand.

Kecmanovic then seems to have done enough with the backhand crosscourt, but Djokovic picks it up from his shoelaces and drops it back over. 30-30.

But Kecmanovic manages to grind out a hold! Smile on his face as he raises a fist to the appreciative crowd.

19:12 , Matt Verri

35 winners for Djokovic, eight unforced errors.

Hasn’t faced a break point. Won the last nine games in a row.

I’d say he’s pretty decently in control.

Djokovic 6-3 6-0 Kecmanovic

19:10 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic can’t get into a rally on Djokovic’s serve, let alone a point. Two more big serves, two more free points.

And now an ace down the T. Three set points.

Serve and volley, easy as you like. That’s as good a set of tennis as you’ll see.

Djokovic 6-3 *5-0 Kecmanovic

19:07 , Matt Verri

This is becoming a bit cruel.

Barely a minute into this game and Djokovic has three break points. About half an hour since he last missed a shot.

Oh, there’s one. And he then pulls a backhand wide, skidded off the baseline. 30-40, one break point left.

Which Djokovic takes! Sublime drop shot. Bagel incoming.

Djokovic 6-3 4-0* Kecmanovic

19:04 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic slaps a forehand low into the net. He’s finding it near enough impossible to trouble Djokovic now.

Serve and volley, 40-0. And again, perfect touch at the net. A hold in under two minutes.

That’s now seven games in a row for Djokovic.

Djokovic 6-3 *3-0 Kecmanovic

19:00 , Matt Verri

Djokovic fully on the charge, 0-30.

A tame forehand into the net from Kecmanovic, that’s two break points for Djokovic. Relentless.

TOO GOOD. Sensational backhand winner and that’s the double break.

Djokovic 6-3 2-0* Kecmanovic

18:57 , Matt Verri

Turning into a clinic, as Djokovic runs down the drop shot and just flicks it into the open court. Too easy.

Now up to 25 winners and six unforced errors - that’s going to get it done.

Ace out wide catches the line. Kecmanovic didn’t believe it and stood motionless for a couple of seconds.

Good response here, nails the return down the line and he pulls it back from 40-0 to 40-30.

All of nothing, though. Djokovic holds.

Djokovic 6-3 *1-0 Kecmanovic

18:52 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic needs to be careful this doesn’t get away from him in a hurry.

Djokovic whips a forehand winner beyond him and there’s a bit of a chance at 15-30.

More than that now, break point for Djokovic. Alarm bells ringing loudly in the Kecmanovic camp.

He’s broken - unforced error gifts the break to Djokovic.

Some point!

18:49 , Matt Verri

Here is that brilliant point, won eventually by a diving Djokovic.

Djokovic 6-3 Kecmanovic

18:47 , Matt Verri

So then, Kecmanovic needs to do what nobody has done so far this week. Break Djokovic’s serve.

Not looking great for him, as the latest Djokovic winner takes him a couple of points away from the set.

Ace out wide wraps things up. Clinical as ever from Djokovic.

Djokovic *5-3 Kecmanovic

18:44 , Matt Verri

Should be break point, with Djokovic having half the court at his mercy but he nets the forehand. That was a real chance.

Kecmanovic returns the favour with a poor slice - deeeeuce once more. This game has lasted more than six minutes now.

STUNNING! Probably the point of the tournament so far. Drop shots, lobs, smashes... and then a volleyed winner from a diving Djokovic. As good as it gets, and it brings up a break point.

Another long rally, this time Kecmanovic wins it. A fifth deuce.

Break point to come, second chance for Djokovic after a loose forehand from Kecmanovic.

And he takes this one! Kecmanovic broken at a pretty disastrous time.

Djokovic 4-3* Kecmanovic

18:39 , Matt Verri

Big game this for Kecmanovic. If he gets broken here, Djokovic is suddenly serving for the set.

But it’s a good start, as he sends down an ace and then an unreturned first serve down the T. Matching Djokovic.

Now there is stress, though. Slice floats long and it’s deuce.

Kecmanovic’s drop shot is good enough, advantage. but we’re back to deuce as the net cord does Djokovic a big favour.

Djokovic 4-3* Kecmanovic

18:33 , Matt Verri

Rattling through another Djokovic service game.

Ace down the T, ace out wide. Six of those already in four games on serve.

That’s a swift hold to love.

Djokovic *3-3 Kecmanovic

18:30 , Matt Verri

Kecmanovic hasn’t made a bad start on the biggest stage of them all, but does feel like he’s under pressure every service game.

Djokovic pegs him back to 30-30 with his 13th winner of the match.

Huge backhand down the line comes at a perfect time for Kecmanovic, as does the ace out wide that follows.

Djokovic 3-2* Kecmanovic

18:26 , Matt Verri

Djokovic looking ominously good on serve. More than 80% of his first serves in, if that keeps up it’s hard to see how Kecmanovic troubles him.

Backhand winner laced down the line, 40-0.

Kecmanovic gets across nicely to make the volley and briefly extend the game, but Djokovic seals the deal with a confident smash.

Djokovic *2-2 Kecmanovic

18:23 , Matt Verri

Harsh to call that an unforced error - Djokovic with a forehand that lands about a millimetre long.

Nothing wrong with that, lovely disguise as he drags the racket under the ball at the last second for the drop shot.

But that’s long too - Djokovic throws his head back as the backhand lets him down this time.

Djokovic 2-1* Kecmanovic

18:18 , Matt Verri

Great shot. Djokovic a bit slow to get up the court as he goes for the serve and volley, and Kecmanovic finds the gap for the forehand pass.

Already had a few brilliant rallies and here’s another one. Kecmanovic stretches and just about flicks the ball over the net, but Djokovic is quickly there and finds a perfect angle.

Swinging first serve out wide and that’s a routine game on serve.

Djokovic *1-1 Kecmanovic

18:15 , Matt Verri

Djokovic quickly to work on the Kecmanovic serve, hammering a forehand winner into the corner of the court. 15-30.

But Kecmanovic responds with one of his own to ease the pressure - Djokovic with the big slide but still couldn’t catch up with it.

Another winner from the seven-time champion gets him to deuce, and he then slips awkwardly behind the baseline. Left in a bit of a heap but he’s quickly back up.

Helps Kecmanovic battle to a hold.

Djokovic 1-0* Kecmanovic

18:10 , Matt Verri

Ace to kick things off for Djokovic, and then a second serve that Kecmanovic barely gets a racket on. Start as you mean to go on.

Djokovic does eventually have to hit a groundstroke - just the one. Forehand winner gets him to 40-0.

Kecmanovic gets himself on the board, nice drop shot after a long rally. Even Djokovic can’t get there, and he applauds that.

And all of a sudden we’re at deuce, after a poor volley from Djokovic.

Took a bit of a scenic route in the end, but another ace gets the job done for Djokovic.

18:04 , Matt Verri

Warm-ups coming to an end, we’ll be up and running in the next couple of minutes.

Novak Djokovic to serve first - he hasn’t been broken yet this week. Not too shabby.

Here we go

17:57 , Matt Verri

It’s very nearly time.

Novak Djokovic and Miomir Kecmanovic are about to walk out into the Centre Court sunshine, lovely evening in SW19.

Fair to say it’s not exactly a full house in the Royal Box right now. Dinner time, I take it.

Good company to keep!

17:48 , Matt Verri

Novak Djokovic looking to bring up a Wimbledon century this evening...

Right at home

17:39 , Matt Verri

Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon record really is remarkable.

He’s won four of the last six tournaments here, and has not failed to reach the final since 2017.

A shock third-round defeat in 2016 is the only time he has failed to make at least the quarter-finals at SW19 since 2008.

Ridiculous consistency.

Next up!

17:31 , Matt Verri

Iga Swiatek has just rushed to a 6-2 6-3 over Danielle Collins. Easy as you like.

That means Djokovic and Kecmanovic will be up very shortly in the final match of the day on Centre Court.

Djokovic: I'm playing as well as I can

17:25

The seven-time champion was in bullish mood earlier this week when asked after beating Dan Evans if he go on to achieve something special at these championships.

Djokovic said: “Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, if I play like today, I feel like I have a very good chance against anybody, really, on the Centre Court of Wimbledon, a place where I maybe feel the most comfortable on any court.

“Rod Laver Arena and Wimbledon Centre Court are the two courts where I've done so well throughout my career.

“I felt great physically, mentally sharp. Game-wise, I'm playing as well as I can, really, on grass. So hopefully I can keep it up.”

Standard Sport prediction

17:16 , Matt Verri

Novak Djokovic is unsurprisingly the big favourite and rightfully so.

He was superb in swatting aside Dan Evans on Thursday and a repeat of that performance will see him cruise into the last-16.

Barring any fitness issues, this should be a comfortable evening for Djokovic.

Djokovic to win, straight sets.

Start time

17:07 , Matt Verri

Soon, the way things are going.

This match is scheduled to start following the conclusion of Iga Swiatek’s clash with Danielle Collins.

Well, Swiatek won the first set 6-2 and has a couple of break points to go 3-0 up in the second.

Collins has saved those, but she’s still under huge pressure.
