Wilson, Lockett connect on most improbable completion of last 2 years

The Seahawks’ first touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams Thursday night will be remembered for more than just giving Seattle an early lead.

Quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Tyler Lockett combined for the 13-yard score in the back of the end zone that had the most improbable completion chance (6.3%) of the last two seasons, according to Next Gen Stats.

Per Next Gen Stats, Lockett was just 0.2 yards from the sideline, 1.1 yards from the back of the end zone, and only 0.9 yards away from defender Eric Weddle.

Only one play in the Next Gen Stats era has had a lower probability of success and it came Week 12 of the 2017 season. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown earned the top nod for their 23-yard play that had only a 3.5% chance of completion.

Here’s a full look at Wilson and Lockett’s most improbable completion of the last two seasons.
