Former marathon world record holder Wilson Kipsang has been arrested in Kenya for breaching coronavirus curfew protocols after he and 19 other people locked themselves inside a bar.
Kipsang, who won bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, was one of the 20 people detained by police it Iten, along with a local politician.
The 38-year-old, who is also a police officer, was said to be drinking alcohol inside the bar and was breaching the 7pm to 5am curfew instated by the Kenya government.
Kipsang is currently serving a provisional one-year ban from track and field events after being charged with doping offences, including allegedly tampering with samples.
Iten, situated in the eastern side of Kenya alongside the Kerio Valley National Park, it used as a training base by distance runners due to its high altitude.
12 other athletes were arrested in town earlier this week for breaching government guidelines, when they were caught training in a group thus breaking the social-gathering guidelines.
