July 13--Move over, "Top Chef" and "Project Runway."
A television show about the creative process, this one about making a better driver, is being launched by Chicago's Wilson Golf.
The sporting goods company's innovation lab is inviting inventors, product developers and engineers to an open "concept call" as it seeks to produce a better driver. It's part of a show, "Driver vs. Driver," and the inventor with the winning idea will get $500,000 and bragging rights to having created a Wilson Staff 2017 branded driver sold at golf shops nationwide.
The show, which follows the trials and tribulations of contestants, will air on Golf Channel in fall 2016.
"As we push golf innovation into new territories, we recognize that new ideas, materials, design elements and concepts can come from the most unexpected places, industries and people," Tim Clarke, president of Wilson Golf, said in a statement. "This new television show is designed to celebrate the entrepreneurial and inventive spirit that is so important to our brand and mine the country for driver ideas that the Wilson Labs team can turn into reality."
