Aug. 01--A judge set bail at $15,000 for a Wilmette man accused of possessing more than 20 images including videos of child pornography, officials said.
Patrick D. Kearney, 32, of the 4000 block of Fairway Drive in north suburban Wilmette, is charged with possession of child pornography, according to a statement from the Cook County State's Attorney office.
On July 8, Kearney dropped off his computer for service at a Best Buy store and asked that media from his original computer be transferred to a new one, the statement said.
After signing a service claim giving the store permissions to review his files, they began doing that the next day and contacted Northbrook police after finding file folders labeled with titles indicating child pornography, the statement said.
The file was opened and police learned it contained a video showing an underage girl engaged in sex acts with men. In total, more than 20 videos and images of child pornography were found, the statement said.
Kearney was arrested Thursday and appeared in Skokie Courthouse where Judge Maria Orr set bail at $15,000, court records showed.
Orr also ordered Kearney to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18, no access to the Internet or cell phones with Internet capability.
