Willy Kambwala close to Manchester United deal as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for transfer coup

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Willy Kambwala from Ligue 2 side Sochaux.

The teenage defender will join the Old Trafford club for a fee worth €4million with bonuses to come if he develops as planned.

Kambwala is only 16 and won’t go straight into the senior squad at Old Trafford but United have been quick to move for the highly-rated centre back.

RMC Sport say the finishing touches are being put on the move and it will be completed before Monday’s transfer deadline.

English Premier League clubs have until 5pm on Monday to sign players from clubs outside of England.

The 16-year-old is already 6ft 4in and will be a powerhouse of a defender if he continues to develop as expected at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

The French-born star could also represent DR Congo at international level in the future.

Liverpool were also previously linked with a move for the highly -rated stopper.

United are also on the lookout for a first team centre back with many feeling they need a partner for captain Harry Maguire.

Victor Lindelof has been criticised for his errors while Eric Bailly has struggled with injuries over the last 18 months.

Solskjaer was full of praise for Bailly and he is likely to start when fit but United fans want at least one more senior centre back in before Monday.
