Willow Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to release new song together

Willow Smith is keeping things in the family with her latest track, teaming up with her own mother – Jada Pinkett-Smith - for a collaboration titled “Dear Father”.

“I actually have a song with Willow that we did together,” Pinkett-Smith revealed to Billboard, having hosted an event through her Will & Jada Smith foundation, focused on educating young people from underprivileged communities on how to forge careers in the entertainment industry.

“It’s called ‘Dear Father’ and we are still working on it. But it’s pretty dope. Willow has always wanted to do some stuff with me.”

“She grew up with Wicked Wisdom [her metal band] on tour so it’s always been her dream to play with the band and play with me on stage. It’s really fun. So we’re thinking about doing four songs or something.”

It’s certainly not the first time the Smith family’s joined musical forces, with Will Smith making an appearance on Jaden’s track “Icon”.

Pinkett-Smith penned an open letter to Willow in May, showing her pride in her daughter and revealing what their close bond had taught her.

“I’m so proud of how opinionated and strong you are,” she wrote. “Both you and your brother have taught me acceptance—how to accept and allow you to be who you are. I appreciate you for that.”

“I have learned so much about life experiences—intimate life experiences you were having that I wasn’t aware of. And it taught me that, as much as I thought I knew you, there’s so much more to know. Even though I’ve been surprised, and even a bit shocked at times, I’m just glad that you have your own internal fortitude to get yourself through some of your most intimate, darkest hours.”
