Willie Miller in Scott Brown Celtic quip as Aberdeen legend talks up 'positive' Stephen Glass double act

Aberdeen legend Willie Miller is ready to welcome Scott Brown to the club with open arms - joking that the famous red shirt would suit the current Celtic captain.

The Dons announced Stephen Glass as their new manager on Tuesday and Record Sport revealed that Brown is expected to follow as player-assistant.

Glass and Brown worked together as players at Hibs and it's understood they could be reunited this week with Aberdeen expected to announce the arrival of the Celtic man.

The move will split opinion in the north with some Aberdeen fans reluctant to welcome a player who holds such a high standing at Parkhead.

But Miller, who captained Aberdeen to their European Cup Winner's Cup success in 1983 and later managed them in the 90s, is already sizing him up for a home shirt.

"I think the red would suit Scott to be honest," he said on talkSPORT. "He's a fabulous player. I think he's still got mileage as well.

"If he's got the enthusiasm to combine the playing capacity with the coaching side of the game then at his age it's probably a move that might excite him.

He's out of contract at the end of the season, Celtic don't have a manager either so there's maybe a little bit of uncertainty in the east end of Glasgow that Aberdeen could perhaps take advantage of.

"If he comes here as a player there's plenty of young legs around him in that Aberdeen side that he could have a huge influence on for the next season or two.

"It's an exciting one. Obviously coming from the Old Firm doesn't please all Aberdeen fans but I think when they sit down and think about the quality of Scott Brown, leadership qualities in particular, they'll look upon it as a positive appointment."
