Willie Miller defends Rangers and brands SPFL independent investigation a 'sham'

Legendary Aberdeen captain Willie Miller has slaughtered the SPFL over their handling of events since the infamous season ending vote.

Rangers, in conjunction with other clubs, have called for an EGM, to bring all 42 member clubs together to look at seven points they feel are yet to be answered.

Aberdeen and Hearts have also called for independent investigations.

An initial inquiry into the SPFL by Deloitte was released on Friday but has drawn criticism for not being wide ranging enough in its parameters and because clubs didn't know it was happening.

Miller was far from impressed  and reckons the governing body is losing a lot of support because of their handling of the whole situation.

He told BBC Sportsound : "We are talking about an organisation that has lost a lot of credibility and trust and they seem to compound it.

"Not only was the vote mishandled, and I think Rangers have every right to ask questions, but this independent inquiry is just a sham.

"The present one, not the future one if it ever happens, (the one) signed off by Karyn McCluskey.

"The last two or three paragraphs (of the SPFL) statement was almost like a school teacher telling you to move on swiftly after what's happened in the past, you know, getting a scolding.

"I think there is loads of questions here to be answered. I take Mikey's (Stewart) point about having to move forward and find answers but unfortunately it's these people who have bugled this vote and bungled this independent inquiry that we have got to have trust in that they can find a way out of this mess.

"They keep putting their foot in it and this is just compounding that vote that was totally mishandeld.

"I'm not suggesting there was anything illegal done but it was certainly mishandled and the only bit of new information in this new investigation we didn't know was that the SPFL have an email quarantine system."
