Willie Harvey will decide when he returns, says Rutherglen Glencairn No.2

Rutherglen Glencairn assistant Joe Pryce says only Willie Harvey will decide when the boss returns to the dug-out, following his bout with Covid.

Harvey has been in attendance at recent games, and is gaining strength after being struck down with the virus so severely that he needed hospitalisation.

But Pryce says he's more than happy to continue first-team duties until Harvey feels ready to regain the reins.

He said: "Willie will decide when he comes back. Whenever he's ready and he feels fit enough to do it, it's down to him.

"We're doing OK at the moment."

Glencairn have a 'break' from the pressures of league duty when they travel to St Anthony's in the South Challenge Cup next weekend, and Pryce says that's why it was so important to take full points from yesterday's 3-2 win over Rossvale.

Goals from Keirin Coleman, Michael Lone and Drew Wingate had the hosts 3-0 with 20 minutes left, before Hugh Kerr's late double provided a nervy finish for Glens.

He said: "Next week it's a wee break and we're in the Challenge Cup, but then the league kicks back in and there are many more huge games coming up.

"So it was really important, with a wee fortnight's break there, to get those three points and hopefully move us up a couple of spots in the league.

"It will be a tough game, it always is, you never get anything easy over there.

"They're a proud club, we know Danny Taylor will have his players really fired up for it, and it's going to be just as tough as the Rossvale game was."
