Willian sends desperate plea to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over Arsenal transfer saga

Willian has pleaded with Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to extend his stay in north London - as he believes his new side can challenge for silverware next season.

The Brazilian playmaker has linked up with Aubameyang at the Emirates after leaving top-flight rivals Chelsea.

And now Arsenal have bolstered their attacking ranks, they are looking to tie down their club captain to a new deal.

The Gunners star has been linked with a move away from the Emirates as he enters the final year of his existing deal, with Barcelona said to be ready to swoop.

But recent reports have suggested Aubameyang is on the brink of agreeing a new deal.

And Willian has had his say on the saga, believing that the striker can be influential in Arsenal's pursuit for glory under Mikel Arteta.

The winger told the Sun : “I joined Arsenal because we can challenge for titles but Pierre will be a big part of the plan.

“He has to stay — it is very important to me.

“This is a guy who gets 25-30 goals a season and we have to keep a player like that.

“He’s one of the best players in our team and somebody I want to be making chances for.”

Aubameyang was Arsenal's top scorer across all competitions last season, netting 29 times and also providing three assists.

While all indications point towards the former Borussia Dortmund attacker extending his stay in north London, that the deal has not been confirmed yet is likely to concern many Arsenal fans.

And with the pacy front man having jetted off to Italy, those worries are unlikely to be calmed with Aubameyang now in the last 12 months of his current contract.

Gunners fans will hope any deal is announced once Aubameyang returns from Italy, preferably before their crunch clash with Liverpool next weekend.
