Willian’s one-word description of Chelsea teammate N’Golo Kante

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is a popular player, not only at the club but also throughout the game.

The Frenchman has had an impact on English football, despite only being in the country for five years.

He arrived in the summer of 2015 when Leicester City signed him from French side Caen. He won the Premier League title at odds of 5000-1 in his first and only season at the club before moving onto Chelsea a year later.

There he became one of a few players to win the title in consecutive seasons with different clubs when he again lifted the trophy at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

But it wasn’t only on the domestic stage where Kante was lifting silverware. The midfielder was part of the French side who lifted the World Cup trophy in 2018 after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.

He also played through injury in the Europa League final at the end of last season to help Chelsea lift the European silverware in Baku.

Despite his success, Kante is not a player who seeks the spotlight, he instead quietly goes about his job on the pitch and lets his football do the talking.

That is all the more evident when teammate Willian was asked to describe the midfielder in one word.

“Shy” was his response along with a laughing face on his Instagram stories.

Kante has struggled with injuries this season, meaning that his influence hasn’t been felt around Stamford Bridge as much as it normally would be.

He has though still managed to make 18 Premier League appearances in which he has scored three goals.

While the Frenchman may be shy off the field, when it comes to the ball being won in the midfield battle, he is far from that.
