Willian's agent issues key update on the Chelsea winger's future amid Tottenham transfer links

Kia Joorabchian - the agent of Chelsea winger Willian - has revealed that no discussions have been held with Tottenham Hotspur about the prospect of the Brazilian joining the North London club in the next transfer window.

Willian's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire this summer after both Chelsea and the winger failed to reach an agreement over fresh terms.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk star, who turns 32 in August, was open to signing a new three-year deal at Stamford Bridge this summer whilst the Blues were only willing to offer him a two-year option.

Since it was made clear that Willian would not be putting pen to paper on a new deal, a plethora of clubs, both in England and abroad, have shown huge levels of interest in signing him on a free-transfer in the upcoming transfer window, though when that may open remains anyone's guess because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Amongst the clubs to have been heavily linked with a move for Willian are Spurs, with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho being linked with a reunion with the winger, who has scored five times in the Premier League this season.

However, Willian's agent, Joorabchian, has revealed that he and Willian have not had any talks with Spurs about a possible switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, admitting that he is, in fact, yet to hold discussions with any club about his next move.

"Willian wanted to sign a three-year contract in order to achieve the things he wants to achieve in the next few years and then see where his career takes him from there," Joorabchian told Sky Sports.

"Chelsea's policy, though, only allows two [years] so that's where the block was.

"At the moment he is a Chelsea player; he has a contract with Chelsea until the season is over, so I think it is disrespectful to talk about moving to other clubs.

"We have not spoken to Tottenham or any other club at the moment."

The Brazilian is poised to have his Blues contract temporarily extended to ensure he is able to play the remainder of Chelsea's Premier League fixtures once the campaign resumes later this month.
