Willian reveals why he turned down Barcelona for Arsenal as Leno kit decision is explained

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Monday, November 30.

Willian reveals why he turned down Barcelona for Arsenal

Approaches from both Mikel Arteta and Edu were enough to convince Willian to join Arsenal in the summer, according to the winger.

The Brazil international agreed a move to the Gunners, despite reported interest from Barcelona, after leaving London rivals Chelsea on a free transfer.

It ended a seven-year association with the Blues and the former Shakhtar Donetsk star has explained how the move across the capital came about.

"From my first chat with Mikel Arteta and Edu, they always showed huge interest in having me on board," Willian told FourFourTwo.

"That was really important, as it showed their respect for me as a professional, but also showed their conviction in what they are trying to achieve at the club.

"Arsenal told me how I’d fit in there and how they saw me helping them to reach their goals.

"I could see that Arsenal were on the right track, and I’m delighted to be here."

Why Leno was forced to wear an outfield away kit against Wolves

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno was forced to wear an outfield away kit on Sunday against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The German stopper would usually wear his luminous green goalkeeper jersey, but was forced to change because Rui Patricio was wearing a nigh identical shirt.

Premier League rules state goalkeeper kits must be different colours, even though the two players sit at opposite ends of the pitch.

Arsenal player ratings from Wolves defeat

The Gunners fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the Emirates against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday evening.

Arsenal fell behind to goals from Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence on what was another frustrating evening for Arteta and his players.

Kaya Kaynak submitted his player ratings for the game, and there was unsurprisingly no big scores for the hosts.

Gabriel managed to produce Arsenal’s consolation goal and for that he earned a 7 out of 10, but there was less than stellar marks for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Granit Xhaka.

It was also a poor night for Kieran Tierney, with the former Celtic defender struggling against a talented Wolves attack.
