Willian makes bold Mikel Arteta prediction in glowing praise of Arsenal boss

Willian believes Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta can go on to become one of the best managers in world football after just months of working under the Spaniard.

Arteta has impressed in his short time in the Arsenal hot seat, already winning the FA Cup and making some shrewd additions in the transfer market.

Among the new summer signings were Willian, who Arteta insisted on bringing to the club to kick-start his rebuild.

And his forward has seen enough already to convince him Arteta is destined for great things from the dugout.

"He'll be a top manager, I've no doubt about it," Willian told FourFourTwo . "The potential is there, as is the ambition.

"In a few years he'll be considered one of the best managers in the Premier League – and the world.

"Obviously you must win trophies to be considered one of the best, and it will happen for him sooner rather than later."

There was plenty of promise in Arteta prior to him taking his first role in management, having learned from Pep Guardiola in his former position as Man City's No.2.

And he has made significant changes to Arsenal since his appointment; most notably his implementation of a 3-4-3 formation and a structured, pressing style of football which has drawn plaudits from former players and pundits.

After the success of landing his first piece of silverware in August, though, followed by three wins out of their first four league matches this season, things haven't been quite as rosy in recent weeks.

The Gunners have now won just one of their past four matches in the Premier League, scoring just once from the penalty spot, with their latest defeat - a 3-0 loss to Aston Villa - particularly damning.

But Willian, 32, has nothing but good things to say about his tutor, and feels he portrays all the attributes to be at the top of the game in years to come.

"I'm impressed with the way he talks and explains his tactical thoughts – he's quick to read the game and make adjustments when needed," the Brazilian added.

"It's been fantastic to train under him so far and I'm learning a lot."
