Willian explains how Liverpool players will feel about Premier League title

Chelsea winger Willian has given his take on what the Liverpool players might be feeling as they wait to return to action.

The Premier League season is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, with no clear sign of when the Reds will resume their campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are just two wins away from securing the memorable league title win, which would be a 19th in the club’s history.

There are ongoing discussions about how best to complete the season, with the Premier League holding a fresh meeting last week to discuss the plans.

However, Willian insists that the Liverpool players will not even be thinking about getting back on the pitch, despite a historic league title win in their sights, and will instead be prioritising health.

“Football without fans is no fun,” the Brazilian is quoted saying in Football.London.

“I’ve heard that at we could return with closed gates, with no public in the stadiums. If it is necessary and if we must play for the good of all, it must be done.

“Even Liverpool players themselves, if you ask them, will say that they are concerned about their own health and that of their families. Not with the English title.

“What I can do is ask everyone to be well and to obey the recommendations of doctors and health professionals. If that happens, let’s get out of this. Until then, we have to take care of ourselves and the people we love. This is a moment that worries me a lot.

“They say that after this there will be unemployment and this is the perspective that worries me in Brazil. How will the economy be? What about people’s jobs? But at the same time, I believe that this is not the time to think about it, but about health.

“Nothing else. It is the most important of all. If you are well and healthy, you can work. If you’re sick, you don’t do anything.”
