Willian drops Instagram hint over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal lineup against Olympiacos

Willian could earn a third successive start for Arsenal against Olympiacos tonight.

In recent weeks, the Brazilian has begun to show signs of the form that convinced Gunners manager Mikel Arteta to lure him away from Chelsea on a free transfer last summer.

Hailed as a "gamechanger" by the Spaniard in the last round as Arsenal sealed a place in the last-16 with a dramatic comeback win over Benfica, Willian has now recorded three assists in his last three appearances across all competitions.

Two of those appearances have been as a starter - against Leicester City and the 1-1 draw away at Burnley last time out.

But will Arteta keep faith in Willian for a third game in succession?

Well, the Arsenal manager was full of praise for attacking midfielder following the Premier League outing at Turf Moor as he highlighted his efficiency in possession.

"It's always a difficult game to play here for the forwards the way they play here, but I thought he had some really good moments in the game," Arteta said.

"There were some moments where we struggled because we played their game for 25 minutes in the second half which they do that really well to weight the game where they want.

"It's pretty difficult to get out of it when the ball is always stopping, when there are free kicks and goal kicks and throw ins, but it's their game, but the moment we got control and we can use the spaces and he can have short relationships with his teammates I think he's very efficient."

Willian, as expected, is in the Arsenal matchday squad to face Olympiacos and if his social media activity is anything to go by, it looks like he will be starting the game.

Taking to Instagram, the 32-year-old has done his best to hype up the big game in Greece.

It should be noted that Willian has done this whenever he has been named in a matchday squad this season and it does not necessarily mean he will start.

Interestingly, this is a ploy that the likes of Thomas Partey, Nicolas Pepe, and Gabriel Magalhaes have used whenever they've been included in an Arsenal matchday squad this season.

If Willian is handed a start, it will be only the second time he's been in Arteta's XI in the Europa League this term, with his first coming in the 4-1 win over Molde in the group stage.
