Willian agrees Chelsea contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until end of the season

Willian has agreed a contract extension that will see him remain at Chelsea until the end of the Premier League season.

Clubs have until midnight on Tuesday to make the Premier League aware of any short-term extensions, with Chelsea also confident that they have convinced Pedro, who will join Roma at the end of his contract, to see out the campaign.

Brazilian Willian also looks set to leave the club come the end of the season, with the two parties unable to agree an acceptable deal over the past months.

The Blues have offered the 31-year-old a two-year-deal, though he has been holding out for a three-year-deal and could stay in London with Tottenham and Arsenal both having kept tabs on the situation.

Willian has provided much needed experience for Frank Lampard's side during the manager's first season in charge and has notched seven goals and six assists in all competitions so far.

Lampard, who played alongside Willian towards the end of his time as a player in west London, made it clear from the outset that he wanted all those who had started the season with the club to stay until the end.

Olivier Giroud and Willy Caballero, two others who would have been out of contract on June 30, have already seen their contracts extended by a year.
