Willian & Pulisic give Chelsea fans hope while Tammy Abraham proves his point

Most of Chelsea's players might be getting some summer sun ahead of the 2019/20 season, but for others the work hasn't yet finished.

There might have been a successful World Cup last season, however there are still plenty of competitions going on this month, including the Copa America and the U21 European Championships.

As with many competitions around the world, Chelsea have players involved in both, while the CONCACAF Gold Cup is also ongoing, in which Christian Pulisic is involved in.

So how have the Chelsea players been getting on around the world in their competitions? football.london has a look here.

Willian

Despite being a late call-up to the Brazilian squad for Copa America, Willian has already made a bright start to the competition and scored a stunning goal.

With Eden Hazard having left the Blues, Chelsea are going to need their veteran players to step up to the mark and Willian is going to be just as important as any of them.

The 30-year-old came on as a substitute against Peru, cut in from the left and fired a cracking shot into the corner of the net to make it 5-0 in their final group stage match.

He is yet to make a start in the competition, however showed his quality in the match.

Christian Pulisic

Another player who Chelsea will be hoping to fill the Hazard gap is Pulisic, and in the Gold Cup he showed just the qualities that Chelsea need to get through the difficult patch.

With a goal and two assists, Pulisic was running the show for the USA during their 4-0 smashing of Trinidad & Tobago.

The USA have to face Panama next and Pulisic will be hoping to get his country further into the competition.

Jay Dasilva

Chelsea will have Emerson and Marcos Alonso fighting for a place in the first team next season, but Jay Dasilva will also be putting his hat in the ring.

The left-back started both of England's U21 Euros matches against France and Romania, with steady performances in the games.

However, probably not done quite enough to get himself in the mind of Lampard and push for that spot.

Fikayo Tomori

There is some hope about the future of Tomori after an excellent loan spell with Derby County and working with Frank Lampard.

However, he will certainly have to cut out the mistakes like he did against Romania when he lost the ball and they scored from the mistake.

Of course, mistakes for any player happen, but it did show that there is still a lot to learn for the youngster.

Jake Clarke-Salter

Skippered the U21s, however it is not really a tournament he will want to remember with England crashing out of it after just two games.

In the first match, the defence were really up against it as they went down to ten men and in the end the pressure just became too much.

Individual mistakes really cost the Young Lions in the second game as they crashed out.

Mason Mount

Showed his quality in the second match of the competition as he got the chance to start and linked up well with Abraham for the second goal against Romania.

A lovely flighted ball over the top to his Chelsea team-mate got the Blues back on level terms and gave them some hope for the rest of the game.

However, tactically the England midfield was over-run and was a massive reason for their defeat in Italy against the Romanians.

Tammy Abraham

Despite scoring 26 Championship goals for Aston Villa, being one of the stand-out performers of the campaign, Abraham didn't start either of England U21s matches.

He did come on in both matches and scored a wonderful goal against Romania, taking the ball on his chest, turning and then firing into the bottom corner.

It is likely that Abraham will start against Croatia tonight, but it's all a bit late with England having already crashed out of the competition.
