William Lancefield is set to be named Hearts ’ new head of recruitment.
Southampton’s lead scout has previously worked with Tynecastle sporting director Joe Savage at Norwich City, who has persuaded him to make the switch to the Scottish Premiership new boys, according to the Daily Record.
Lancefield also counts Tottenham Hotspur amongst his former employers and with the Jambos looking to exploit the English market, his network of contacts could prove invaluable.
The 28-year-old will essentially replace John Murray after the long-serving head scout’s retirement was announced last week.
The man who brought Murray to the club back in 1995, Jim Jefferies, has also departed after acting as transfer advisor to Ann Budge, Neilson and the board.
It's understood Lancefield’s main strengths lie in recruitment analysis and he’ll remain based in London while working for Hearts, where he was regional lead scout for the St. Mary’s club.
Hearts are still in the market for several new faces, with Neilson and Savage understood to be on the hunt for a central defender, creative midfielder, additional wide players and a striker.
