William Gallas makes exciting claim about Dominik Szoboszlai after Liverpool transfer

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas has tipped Liverpool summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai to become "one of the best in the world."

Szoboszlai completed a £60m move to Liverpool on Sunday as he became the club's second arrival after Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Hungary captain arrives in L4 with a number of accolades from his time at Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig. His final season in Saxony saw him scoop his second domestic cup for the German outfit as they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal final.

And Gallas is a big fan. The ex-France defender is currently a youth coach at Zalaegerszegi TE in Hungary and was speaking to Nemzeti Sport when he delivered his exciting verdict on Szoboszlai.

"Of course you'll need time to settle in. In order to become a regular player, you have to give your maximum in every training session and match," said Gallas, who won the Premier League twice with Chelsea.

"As for technical skills: I was not afraid for Dominik Szoboszlai at all, because he has all the qualities to be successful and become one of the best in the world as a Liverpool player in the near future.

"What I'm curious about is the mental part. Will you be able to perform at your highest level at the end of each week? Because that's what you need in the Premier League."

Szoboszlai has taken the No.8 shirt at Liverpool following the departure of Naby Keita. The number is synonymous with Reds legend Steven Gerrard and Gallas says that, while it won't be easy carrying the weight of expectation, the youngster has to create his own piece of history.

Gallas, now 45, said: "When we talk about jersey number eight and Liverpool, almost everyone thinks of Steven Gerrard.

"It should be known that the best midfielders in the Premier League wear this number. It won't be easy, but he has to write his own story, and I wish him all the best for that."
