William Gallas makes Arsenal vs Liverpool prediction before Gunners' "great opportunity"

William Gallas is confident Arsenal will beat Liverpool this weekend as the two Premier League giants do battle in north London.

Mikel Arteta's side are looking to record their eighth win from nine league matches this season against a Liverpool team who have struggled to gain any kind of momentum so far. Arsenal secured another excellent victory with a 3-1 success over Tottenham last time out thanks to goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and the evergreen Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners, who face Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night in the Europa League, have started the season brilliantly and sit at the top of the Premier League heading into the weekend's matches. Arsenal's only defeat in the league came at the hands of Manchester United as Erik ten Hag's men ended the Gunners' winning start last month.

On the other hand, Liverpool have made a mixed start to the season, winning just two of their opening seven league games. Jurgen Klopp's side currently sit ninth with the Reds struggling to get going after finishing last season just behind eventual winners Manchester City.

Gallas believes Liverpool's rocky start to the campaign will help the Gunners when the two clubs face off against each-other at the Emirates Stadium. Speaking ahead of Sunday's meeting between the sides, Gallas told Genting Casino : "I'm getting better with my predictions, you know!

"I will back Arsenal to win this game, that is for sure. I think 3-1 to Arsenal because it will be an open game. Arsenal, don’t let me down please! [They] must take advantage of the shape that Liverpool are in.

"I think it would be a big disappointment if Arsenal fail to beat Liverpool at the Emirates, especially after their victory against Tottenham. When you see the performances of Liverpool this season, at the weekend against Brighton, it is a great opportunity to beat them.

"Liverpool are struggling at the moment. The performance against Brighton didn't surprise me because they look like a different team this season. For Arsenal, this is the right time to play Liverpool."

Arsenal will now play three matches a week up until the World Cup gets underway in November with the Gunners competing in the Europa League, while they also have the Carabao Cup to contend with next month. The Gunners' game against Liverpool will wrap up a busy week and Arteta admitted this will be a test of where is squad is at.

Arteta said in his pre-Bodo/Glimt press conference: "It's a test for the squad in terms of the numbers and the quality that you have when you make changes and how much you notice that. At the same time, it’s about how you are able to consistently play at the highest level and demand that of yourself and be successful doing it.

"It’s not something that we did last season and it’s something we will have to do this year for different reasons, but I think everybody is going to have to be able to do that after the World Cup, especially with the scheduling that we have."
