William and Kate Middleton at England v Germany in first football game as couple

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been spotted in the crowd watching the England vs Germany match at Wembley stadium in London.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are around the fans cheering on the team and it is the first time the couple have attended the game together.

They also brought their son Prince George, seven, with them - but there was no England football shirt for the young future king.

The royal youngster, dressed in a smart navy blue jacket, shirt and tie, joined his parents and stood between them as they sang the national anthem ahead of kick-off.

Kate wore a bright red blazer, paired with a white T-shirt and dark trousers for the occasion.

It is also thought to be Kate's first time watching an England men's football international in person.

The duchess could be seen leaning in to speak to her son as they concentrated on the action.

The Cambridges were also pictured chatting to David Beckham ahead of the match tonight.

William had travelled back from Scotland for the late afternoon showdown, after visiting a shipyard to meet the team building HMS Glasgow earlier on Tuesday.

The Duke of Cambridge is a football fan and last week he supported England as they defeated Czech Republic 1-0.

He is also President of the Football Association.

The family support Aston Villa and George was pictured enthusiastically celebrating a 5-1 Villa win with William, Kate and sister Princess Charlotte in October 2019.

England fans have been gathering around the country, cheering and singing in support of England manager Gareth Southgate and his team today.

Some supporters, eager to soak up the atmosphere inside the ground, took their seats at the stadium more than two hours before the match started.

Fans also flooded pubs around the country ahead of the 5pm kick-off.

Supporters also gathered in Trafalgar Square in London, standing up proudly to sing God Save The Queen.

Some held their hands to their chest while others stood up with their arms in the air.

As kick-off began, they all cheered and then went silent moments later.

The pubs of Soho are crowded with England fans watching the game although the surrounding streets are quiet due to rainy conditions.

Fans were watching the game on their phones in The Montagu Pyke Wetherspoons.

Laura Cheney, 18, from Winchester, said: "Kane's on there. We're happy. They know what they're doing."

She said she would celebrate an England win with "lots of drinking".

Flo Lindlahr, 18, also from Winchester, added: "If we get through I reckon it's coming home!"

It is the first time that Prince George has attended an event in 2021.

Spotting his presence among the crowd, royal fans shared photos of the Cambridges at Wembley tonight.

A person tweeted: "Little Prince George matching his Pa in his suit and tie!! My heart has melted!!!"

Another wrote: "Seeing Prince George in the crowd is super cute!"

One more added: "Lads please don't disappoint Prince George."

Two years ago, Kate and William's eldest son, who turns eight next month, was spotted kicking a football with little sister Charlotte at a charity polo match dad William and uncle Harry took part in.

And his dad William told comedian Frank Skinner that since the World Cup, George listened to the Three Lions football anthem every morning when he woke up.

On his sixth birthday, Prince George was pictured wearing an England t-shirt in the garden of family home at Kensington Palace.
