Will Young's twin brother Rupert's heartbreaking last post before his death at 41

Will Young's twin brother Rupert made a final heartbreaking post on Instagram before he died aged just 41.

Rupert's family confirmed the tragic news on Monday night though circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Just four weeks before he died, Rupert, who battled poor mental health, shared a picture of himself and Will as young children.

In the snap the twins looked adorable as they posed together on a stack of hay with cheeky expressions on both of their faces.

They would have been four or five years old when the picture was taken as Rupert added the simple caption of "1984".

The picture was posted on his public Instagram page almost a month before his family confirmed his death.

A spokesperson for Will said: "I can confirm that Will’s brother has very sadly passed away.

"We would like to request privacy for Will and his family during this very difficult and sad time."

Rupert, who was born ten minutes after Will, spoke previously about his struggles with depression and alcoholism.

He had been diagnosed with dysthymia – a depressive mood disorder – in 2005.

Rupert previously admitted he struggled with living his famous brother's shadow.

Speaking in a 2008 interview with The Telegraph, Rupert said: "I woke up one morning and turned on the TV. There was William on Richard & Judy, giving the most amazing performance of one of his songs.

"I had spent the night before drinking with tramps in a car park and cutting myself.

"It seemed bizarre to me that two people who are genetically the same could behave in such different ways.

"I realised that something had gone very wrong. But I didn't know what, or why, and nor did anyone else."
