Will we have a white Christmas in Ireland? Bookmaker slashes odds as punters 'rush to cash in'

Punters have been hedging their bets on a white Christmas in Ireland as temperatures are set to plunge to -4C this weekend.

A bookmaker has slashed odds on airports in Ireland having snow on December 25 after betters "rushed to cash in".

The odds for snowfall at Dublin Airport on Christmas Day is now 10/1 from 14/1, while Shannon Airport is 12/1 from 14/1, according to BoyleSports.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Any chance of us freezing the odds on a White Christmas at 14/1 were dashed this week as temperatures took a plunge and now it’s just 10/1 that Dublin will see snow after a number of punters rushed to cash in.

"It’s still a relative long shot, but if we’ve called it wrong there will be plenty out there getting a nice gift this Christmas in the form of a winning bet."
