Will Virginia, Kansas play in NCAA tournament? Everything we know about their status, alternates

Virginia was set to play Georgia Tech on Friday in the ACC men’s basketball tournament on Friday, when a positive COVID-19 test on the Cavaliers’ roster led to a forfeit.

Kansas also had a Friday game scheduled against Texas in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament, and the Jayhawks also had a positive COVID-19 test. Texas moved on.

And now, both powerhouses are in the 2021 NCAA tournament, with both teams in the West region (Virginia is the No. 4 seed and Kansas is No. 3).
