Will US state step in to save newspapers?

Political leaders in Connecticut, including the governor and the attorney general, have been thinking the previously unthinkable - by considering whether the state should step in to save two daily newspapers and 11 weeklies that their owners, the Journal-Register Company, have threatened to close next month.

One option under review has been to institute an employee stock ownership plan, but that didn't save the Tribune Company from filing for bankruptcy. So the state may be having a rethink. (Via FollowTheMedia)
