Will tips in Nottinghamshire will stay open during second lockdown?

Tips in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will remain open during the second lockdown, both councils have confirmed.

Following the Government announcement, a new national lockdown will be in force from Thursday, November 5, until at least December 2.

Non-essential retail, bars, restaurants, cafés and leisure services will have to close their doors.

But Nottinghamshire County Council said all 12 of its household waste and recycling centres in the county will remain open during the lockdown.

The council added: "Don’t forget that you need to be a resident of Nottinghamshire (excluding Nottingham City) and have registered your vehicle to use our recycling centres – it’s quick and easy to register online."

Opening hours are 8am - 4pm daily and strict social distancing restrictions remain in place as they have done since they first reopened to the public.

Nottingham City Council also confirmed its household waste and recycling centre in Lenton would stay open between 8am to 4pm each day.

In May, Nottinghamshire Live reported that staff at the tip had been subjected to vile abuse, including being spat at, as huge queues built for hours with people trying to get rid of built-up waste during lockdown.
