A bunch of baaaananas to Tonight journalist and author Jonathan Maitland who has written a play called Dead Sheep – a comedy drama about the circumstances behind the famous Geoffrey Howe speech which led to the fall of Margaret Thatcher – which premieres at North London’s Park Theatre next April.

Apparently Four Lions backer Maitland ran the idea past former BBC chief political correspondent John Sergeant a year ago but Sergeant told him gently he would be wasting his time as nobody would be interested.

However Maitland wrote the play and now Monkey waits to see if audiences will … wait for it … flock to see the show. Baaaa-Boom!
