Will there be another series of Gavin & Stacey after Christmas special?

Gavin & Stacey's Christmas special has come and gone - but left fans with questions on their lips.

The episode, reported as a one-off, took a look at the whole gang ten years on from their departure from telly screens.

Baby Neil's all grown up, Gavin and Stacey have three kids, and Pete and Dawn are pretty much still going through the motions of their insane marriage.

With teases about what happened between Bryn and Jason on the fated fishing trip, as well as a mind-blowing cliffhanger ending as Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy, fans desperately need to know if there is another series, or at least another Christmas special, in the works.

Ruth Jones shed what light she could, telling The Sun : "It is so complicated for me and James to get together to write.

"I do say never say never, as while we did make it work that was after three years of trying to find time when we could sit down and write it.

"Obviously with the way it ends, there is room for more.

Nessa reformed her duo with Bryn (BBC)

"It's a shame we didn't have more time when we were writing so we could have written more, then have it all ready to go.

"But it was such a challenge to get that special filmed."

Later she added: "I think it's like giving someone a present they really like, they receive it then they go, 'What else have you got?'

Ruth hasn't ruled out a comeback (BBC)

"I think just enjoy this special, and then we will see what the next few years bring."

So, there you have it - she hasn't ruled it out.

That's a far cry from a confirmation, but fans can dream.

Meanwhile, Mat Horne, who plays Gavin, told the Daily Star: "You've all seen the ending.

"They can't leave it like that. Whether the show will be back next year, whether it will be in another 10 years, I don't know."

Stacey's Joanna Page chimed in: "We'd all be happy to do it."
