Will there be an On My Block season 5 on Netflix?
After three years of fun and drama, the hit Netflix series On My Block is coming to an end so there will not be a fifth season.
Netflix tweeted: "On My Block's final season premieres in one week and while that means we'll be saying goodbye to Monse, Ruby, Jamal, Cesar, and Jasmine we won’t be leaving this incredible universe just yet."
However, the fourth season has just been released on the streaming service after being delayed for several months.
On October 4, 2021, viewers were able to see their favourite characters back on the screen.
Season four makes for a timely end to the series, as we know it, as the characters have now finished their time at high school.
It isn't all bad news, though, as a spin-off series has been confirmed.
What we know about the On My Block spin-off show so far
According to Netflix, the On My Block spin-off show is already in the works and it will be titled 'Freeridge'. A release date has not yet been confirmed.
The name stems from the fictional district in Los Angeles that On My Block is set in.
Discussing the news, Netflix’s head of comedy, Tracey Pakosta, said: "While this chapter is closing for our OG squad this October as they reach the end of high school, we are excited to bring a brand new cast of characters and stories to life in this On My Block spin-off.
"There are so many more stories to tell in Freeridge and we’re grateful to continue this journey with Lauren, Eddie, Jeremy, Jamie Uyeshiro and Jamie Dooner."
On My Block's co-creator, Lauren Iungerich, told Variety : "There are more stories to tell of our beloved Freeridge and I cannot wait to continue to work with this talented team."
The new series is said to be 'more female driven' and will follow new friends.
Netflix says the group: "May or may not have unleashed a deadly curse, kicking off an unforgettable adventure."
