It's bad news for fans of the series, as Ricky Gervais revealed series three would be the sitcom's final instalment.
Speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6, the comedian explained why After Life can’t go beyond season three.
He said that the number of episodes is the 'perfect length,' adding:
“You have to decide when that [the ending] comes and I think 18 episodes is about as long as it can be."
