Will there be a Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 live event? Datamined files tell us the answer

Fortnite has been known to end its seasons with extravagant live events in the past, although they've trailed off over the years. Now players are wondering if this latest season will go out with a bang.

Fortnite first introduced live events way back in Chapter 1 Season 3 with The Meteor and since then players have teamed up with Marvel heroes and battled Galactus The Devourer of Worlds, saved reality from a malfunctioning Zero Point and even seen the game sucked into a black hole and rendered unplayable for two days. The beginning of Chapter 4 skipped out on a live event, meaning it's been almost half a year since the last Fortnite live event.

The Fracture live event took place at the finale of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 (and by extension the finale of Fortnite Chapter 3) and saw players floating through outer space trying to restore the Zero Point to its former glory by collecting fragments. This culminated in the Paradigm creating the new Island seen today in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2.

However Epic Games seems to have been scaling back on the Fortnite live event front, when you consider that Fortnite Chapter 3 only had five live events over the four seasons, compared to Fortnite Chapter 2's 13 events. Chapter 4 has yet to have a Fortnite live event, so players are getting restless waiting for the next one.

Will there be a Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 live event?

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, it looks like the answer to the question of if there will be a Fortnite live event for Chapter 4 Season 2 is a no. It was previously leaked that Epic Games is planning a Fortnite Live Event with the codename Durian (via ShiinaBR). @FNBRLoop on Twitter has responded by saying 'Durian' may in fact be the Fortnite live event planned for the end of Chapter 4, with a countdown for the Fortnite live event beginning on November 21, 2023.

However, according to Fortnite News (based on datamined files in Fortnite update 24.40) Epic Games doesn't seem to be planning any end of season events for the finale of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Typically a final patch of a given season will have event files added in advance of an event's debut at the end of a season. As you can probably guess no such files were found within the files of Fortnite update 24.40 meaning it's very unlikely that we'll see a Fortnite live event to cap off Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2.

However, there is one other alternative, there's the possibility that Epic Games could be planning a start of season Fortnite live event for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3, like we saw way back in Chapter 2 Season 6. FNBRLoop has theorised that this may be the case based on an EventFlag file found in the game titled 'AloeCrouton' which is scheduled to start on June 8, 2023. Only time will tell, but we hope so!
