Will the UK still be able to compete in Eurovision after Brexit?

Not a fan of Eurovision and hoping that Brexit - whenever that happens - might mean the end of the UK's future participation?

Well, bad news.

Eurovision is going nowhere. Alternatively you can of course just not watch it.

While the UK might have voted to leave the European Union back in 2016, we haven't separated ourselves from the annual singing contest which we are so bad at we may as well host a separate referendum about whether we should just call it a day.

In fact, this was such a pressing issue that the European Broadcasting Union which organises the event issued a statement back in 2016 to say that we wouldn't be getting off that easy, saying: "The BBC is a Member of the European Broadcasting Union and is, and will remain, eligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

"Just like many broadcasters from countries that are not a member of the European Union.

"The BBC and the UK have a long relationship with the Eurovision Song Contest. The BBC, representing the UK, will therefore remain a welcome participant in the Contest next year and going forward."

Realistically, it was never in doubt. If Israel and even Australia can compete, the UK just leaving the EU was never going to hold us back from delivering forgettable pop number after forgettable pop number year-on-year.
