Will the Steelers really go running back by committee in 2019?

Traditionally under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Pittsburgh Steelers have utilized a one-back rushing attack. Rather than operate by committee, it’s one back getting the vast majority of the carries with backups being used minimally unless there is an injury. We saw it with Le’Veon Bell and then last season with James Conner.

But according to this article on The Athletic, Conner has hinted there will be a more even distribution of carries among the team’s three top running backs. And Conner is ok with the split.

Don’t get me wrong, the idea of seeing the Steelers just wear defenses down with Conner, Benny Snell Jr. and Jaylen Samuels is exciting. But when it comes to Tomlin changing his ways, I’ll believe it when I see it. Even when he had running backs breaking down he didn’t share the workload so I will be surprised if he does it this season.
