Will the Patriots and Texans meet in prime time in 2019?

The Houston Texans and New England Patriots will meet for the sixth time since 2016, whether playoffs or otherwise, come the 2019 season. However, what are the possibilities the two clubs meet in prime time?

According to Nick Underhill of The Athletic, the last of the Patriots’ five prime time games is at the Texans on Dec. 1, which would be a Sunday Night Football game the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.

Such a meeting between the Texans and Patriots would be the fourth regular season prime time game in series history and the fifth overall when playoffs are figured in. Technically speaking, the last prime time affair between the two sides was on Jan. 14, 2017, when the Patriots beat Houston 34-16 at Gillette Stadium in the 2016 NFL divisional playoffs.

The match-up would have everything NBC would be looking for: Young gunslinger in Deshaun Watson attempting to dethrone the king, Tom Brady. It would also feature the intrigue of another Bill Belichick discipline in Bill O’Brien attempting to one-up his mentor.

The official schedule release is set for 7:00 p.m. Central Time today.
