(Still) for sale: Abandoned fort on the River Thames

We now live in a London where upturned empty Big Mac boxes are flipped into luxury apartments and sold for millions of pounds, and yet still no one has bought this majestic - albeit pretty derelict - bomb-proof river fort.

No. 1, The Thames (genuinely the address) is still on the market with a guide price of £500,000, an offer having fallen through in November.

It might look like a leftover set from a post-post-apocalyptic reboot of Kevin Costner’s Waterworld, and the estate agent admits it “needs a lot of work”, but the possibilities with the property are endless.

Concept art for the fort (below) suggests it be turned into a night club - accessible by speedboat when the tide is high - but clearly it could also be used for starting your own society complete with micro economy and/or serve as a neo-pirate base from which to conspire evil plans.

We first reported on the circa 1855 fort, which is described as a “unique building with an unforgettable address”, in October 2014, meaning its been more than a year with no buyer.

You can arrange a viewing here. Be sure to invite us to the housewarming, thanks.
