Will Smith and wife Jada had sex 'multiple times a day' at start of their relationship

Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith had sex 'multiple times a day' at the start of their relationship.

The couple enjoyed a very active sex life when they first began dating after he divorced first wife Sheree Zampino in 1995, and eventually went on to marry - when Jada was three months pregnant with son Jaden - in 1997.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Men in Black star discussed elements of his new memoir, Will, and revealed he and Jada were in the throes of passion for months.

“We drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months… I started to wonder if this was a competition,” Will quipped.

“Either way, as far as I was concerned, there were only two possibilities: 1. I was going to satisfy this woman sexually, or 2. I was going to die trying,” he added.

“Since you're not dead, we assume you won the competition,” Oprah replied, much to Will’s amusement.

However, he revealed that he and Jada were blown away by their intimate - and emotional - connection during the early days of their romance.

“Well, it ended up being a lot more complex than that. You know, those early day were spectacular. Me and Jada, to this day, if we start talking, it's four hours. It's four hours if we exchange a sentence,” Will explained.

He said he and The Matrix actress are still together and “not choking the life out of each other” because they have the ability to work through their issues.

“I've just never met another person that I connect with in conversation more blissfully and productively than Jada,” he gushed.

Their fairytale romance hasn’t been so plain sailing, and in his new memoir, Will details the time he and Jada separated following her 40th birthday.

The I Am Legend star threw a spectacular three-day bash in New Mexico to celebrate his wife’s milestone, which included a luxurious dinner, a performance by Missy Elliot, and a documentary about Jada’s life.

However, she was sickened by “the most disgusting display of ego I have ever seen in my life”, and demanded he cancel the rest of the festivities so she could fly home to Los Angeles.

Will recalled the couple not speaking to one another for days following the trip, and he eventually decided to tell Jada enough was enough.

“I retire. I retire from trying to make you happy... I quit - you go do you, and I’m-a go do me,” he wrote.

But it was after seeing a tantric sex counselor during a period of spiritual exploration which made Will reevaluate his priorities, and while the couple reconciled, they no longer practice monogamy and enjoy an open marriage.
