Will Seymore has 'point to prove' after sealing Finn Harps move

Will Seymore feels he has a ‘point to prove’ after joining Finn Harps from Sligo Rovers.

The midfielder was disappointed not to land a new deal at the Showgrounds but wasn’t left stewing for long.

Seymore said: “Ollie Horgan was a big reason for signing. Leaving Sligo was disappointing but when Ollie phoned, he was very straight with me.

“My conversations with him definitely lit a fire under me to come and prove a point in the league and I can’t wait to get going.

“Growing up, I played lower league level in England where it's very physical, so coming to Ireland I had some idea what to expect on the differences compared to the US.

“I really enjoyed my time last season and there’s a lot of quality in the league.”

Seymore, 28, had spells in Colchester and Cambridge’s academies before returning to the US with Oregon State, Whitecaps, FC Cincinnati and Reno 1868.

Harps boss Horgan said: “Will has plenty of experience and is hungry to push on and improve himself.”

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Matthew Connor has returned to Waterford for a second spell after a season with Galway United.

And Dylan McGlade has signed a new contract with Cork City who hope to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
