BICHOLIM: CM Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that apart from the 10,000 government jobs on the anvil, at least 25,000-30,000 private sector jobs will be created once the new international airport at Mopa and the electronic manufacturing cluster at Tuem get ready over five years.
Speaking at an agricultural meet organised at Ravindra Bhavan, Sakhali, on Wednesday, Sawant said that the government is concerned about the unemployment in the state. tnn
Hence, it has planned development in such a way that a huge number of jobs in the private sector will be created in the next five years.
Stating that the “double-engine government is bringing prosperity to every household”, he said that no one should fall prey to the Rs 5,000 and other schemes offered by some parties. Referring to the schemes announced by TMC, Sawant said the state government is providing loans to needy people at 2% besides subsidy, and hence people should not fall prey to false assurances. TMC has also announced a scheme for the youth
Sawant said that over the past five years, along with the white and green revolutions, great achievements have been made in the state to increase fish wealth.
“We have launched many schemes for the benefit of farmers and many are benefiting from them, and we expect each farmer to earn at least Rs 5 lakh a year,” said Sawant.
Agriculture minister Chandrakant Kavlekar emphasised on streamlining schemes while providing funds to farmers for agricultural development. He said that the government is making efforts to double the income of farmers.
Also, agriculture director Nevil Alphonso said that the department has placed special emphasis on group farming.
Many progressive farmers were felicitated with special awards on the occasion. Also present were Vasu Gaonkar, Shamila Monteiro, Sandeep Phaldesai, Gopal Surlakar, Vithoba Ghadi, Shirish Gaonkar and others.
Many agricultural products, machinery, seeds, fertilisers, etc, were set up at the krishi mela, which Sawant visited.
During the day, the farmers were guided by expert groups on various topics related to farming.
