Will regional mediation solve the crisis in Mali?

Will regional mediation solve the crisis in Mali?

Mali is facing chaos and instability once again.

The military government has – for the second time in recent months – grabbed power.

Leaders who had taken over after the civilian government was deposed in August last year have been arrested and forced to resign.

European countries are threatening more sanctions against Mali where nearly half the population lives in extreme poverty.

And there are fears armed groups may cause further unrest.

Will mediation by West African leaders bring an end to the crisis?

Presenter: Mohammed Jamjoom

Guests:

Moussa Kondo – Civil society activist and director for Accountability Lab in Mali.

Emmanuel Kwesi Aning – Director of research, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre

Marie-Roger Biloa – President of Africa International Media Group
