Will Redskins start Adrian Peterson over Derrius Guice?

Derrius Guice is back for the Washington Redskins — but that doesn’t mean he’ll supplant veteran Adrian Peterson.

In fact, a note from ESPN’s John Keim suggests AP will keep getting the bulk of the work: “However, a source expects Peterson to continue to start, a move that runs counter to what the Redskins did in the season opener when both were available.”

This one actually wouldn’t be too much of a surprise, at least early on in Guice’s return. He might need some time to get back up to speed and the recent injury history means the coaches might prefer to bring him along slowly.

It helps that Peterson is still playing just like Peterson, having averaged 4.3 yards per carry so far with 491 yards and a score.

Peterson and Guice were part of some brief drama when former coach Jay Gruden made the veteran inactive while Peterson started. From the sounds of it, bringing along Guice slowly will make sure none of that drama pops up again.
